Sheikh Rifan Ahmed is a Bangladeshi journalist, editor, and social entrepreneur, currently serving as the Acting Editor of the national daily Nagorik Bhabna. With more than two decades of experience in journalism, he has built a distinguished career in the Bangladeshi media industry through his contributions to national newspapers, editorial leadership, and humanitarian initiatives.

Early Life and Education

Sheikh Rifan Ahmed was born in 1982 in Khulna, Bangladesh, while his ancestral roots are in Brahmanbaria District. From an early age, he demonstrated strong academic potential and an interest in literature, public affairs, and social development.

He completed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from the prestigious Khulna Zilla School. Later, he pursued higher education at Azam Khan Government Commerce College, where he completed his graduation. His academic background and passion for current affairs laid the foundation for his future career in journalism and media leadership.

Journalism Career

Sheikh Rifan Ahmed began his professional journey in journalism in 1998. Starting from the grassroots level, he gradually established himself in the national media landscape through dedication, investigative reporting, and editorial expertise.

Throughout his career, he has worked with several prominent newspapers in Bangladesh, including Prabartan, Janmavumi, Purbanchal, Probaha, Sangbadpatra, Ajkaler Khabar, Amader Somoy, Prothom Alo, Jugantor, and Samakal, among others.

His experience across various leading media outlets helped him develop expertise in news reporting, newsroom management, editorial planning, and media operations.

In 2014, he was appointed as the editor of the weekly magazine Notun Karmakhetro, where he played a vital role in expanding its readership and editorial influence. Later, he served as the editor of the daily newspaper Manabkhabar, further strengthening his reputation as a capable media leader.

On 23 February 2022, Sheikh Rifan Ahmed assumed the role of Acting Editor of the national daily Nagorik Bhabna. Under his leadership, the publication has continued its mission of delivering credible journalism while expanding its digital and multimedia presence. His editorial vision emphasizes truth, public interest journalism, and inclusive national discourse.

Editorial Leadership and Media Vision

As the Acting Editor of Nagorik Bhabna, Sheikh Rifan Ahmed has focused on strengthening independent journalism and building a nationwide network of correspondents. Personal Life

In 2010, Sheikh Rifan Ahmed married Afroza Siddiqua. The couple has one daughter, Rahnuma Ahmed. Despite his demanding professional responsibilities, he values family life and remains committed to balancing his personal and professional roles.
